Manoel Messias vence a World Triathlon Cup Valência

Brasileiro fez fuga no ciclismo e dominou a corrida com autoridade

Realizada neste sábado, a World Triathlon Cup Valência, na Espanha, ficará marcada para sempre no triathlon brasileiro, pois Manoel Messias venceu a prova de maneira corajosa, emocionante para quem pôde acompanhar pelo streaming da World Triathlon.

A prova foi disputada na distância Sprint, com 750m de natação, 20km de bike e 5km de corrida. Após uma natação embolada, no ciclismo, Messias teve a coragem para deixar um grande pelotão de liderança para trás, num ataque junto do austríaco Tjebbe Kaindl, que rendeu a eles 15 segundos importantes para a vitória que viria do brasileiro.

Mal botou os pés no chão, Messias largou o austríaco, mas uma armada espanhola empolgada pelo apoio da torcida local vinha à sua caça, com Mario Mola, Antonio Serrat Seoane, David Castro e, de “intruso”, o americano Matthew McElroy.

O primeiro a se aproximar de Messias foi Serrat, que atacou e, mal se aproximou do brasileiro, nem deu tempo para respirar, já tomando um contra-ataque espetacular de Messias. A partir daí foi ritmo alucinante até o final, entretanto, quando a vitória parecia certa, eis que o grande corredor Mario Mola renasce num último ataque, despachando o McElroy e partindo para Messias. O brasileiro percebeu a aproximação e acelerou novamente, não dando chance ao espanhol e botando água no chopp da torcida local.

Ao final, vitória de Manoel Messias em 50:14, com parciais de 8:56 de natação, 25:37 de ciclismo e 14:38 de corrida. Mario Mola foi o 2º e McElroy o 3º. O brasileiro Kauê Willy foi o 56º colocado.

Entre as mulheres, vitória da jovem alemã Lisa Tertsch, com a mexicana Anahi Alvarez Corral em 2º e a francesa Leonie Periault em 3º. A brasileira Luisa Baptista foi a 51ª colocada.
